Sport is a valued and accepted part of all school's curriculum because it contributes to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for a number of social, physical, emotional and moral learnings and is an important expression of our culture. Participation, enjoyment and skill development for all students are the cornerstones of school sport.
Many opportunities exist within and external to the school sport structure where teachers / schools can support students with disabilities in becoming involved in sport as well as other forms of physical activity.
Elite pathways exist within the school sport structure and a number of students have achieved international success following there participation in these pathways.
Amy Winters (Kempsey High) and Kurt Fearney (Blayney High) have each had stellar international careers. Sporting Biographies are available through links attached to each athletes name.

Many students with disabilities will never attain this level of skill development yet the importance of participation should never be underestimated.
These pages have been designed for school communities to gain a better understanding of opportunities that exist for all students with disabilities in sport and physical activity.
