008. Past NSWPSSA & NSWCHS representatives dominate Socceroo Squad

With under three weeks to the start of FOOTBALL WORLD CUP and the Socceroos taking on Greece in Melbourne this Thursday in an 'international friendly' its important to acknowledge how participation in the government school sporting structure may have influenced many of the Socceroos development.

Seven members of the 23 man Socceroo squad represented NSW Primary School Sport Association (NSWPSSA) at national primary school football carnivals during their primary school years. 

These seven and an additional four players also represented NSW Combined High Schools (NSWCHS) and / or participated in the representative school sport pathways at various levels in the respective secondary schooling.

The 2006 NSWPSSA and NSWCHS Championships will both be held in coming weeks and again highlight many talented players starting their representative football careers.

NSWCHS State Football Championship will be held in Albury from 23 - 25 May and the NSWPSSA State Football Carnival will be held at Soldiers Point 6 - 8 June.
