In one of the most prestigious prizes in Australian sport there are seven finalists. Three finalists in the Performer of the Year have been sport stars with NSWCHS and/or NSWPSSA.
Lauren Jackson (Murray HS)
- Born 11 May 1981.
- Lauren is regarded as best Australian female basketball player of all time.
- Played in the Australian Women’s team as a 16yr old
- 2000 Olympics Silver Medal
- 2004 Olympics Silver Medal
- 2006 World Championships Gold Medal
- Most Valuable Player Award in the US WNBA in 2003 and 2007.
Chris McCormack (Kirrawee HS)
- Born 4 April 1973
- 1997 Triathlon World Champion and ITU World Cup Series Champion
- 2001 Global Triathlete of the Year
- Chris has won every major short course title in the world.
- Current Ironman Australian Champion. Chris has held the title from 2002.
- 2007 Hawaiian Ironman World Champion. This is regarded as the holy grail of the sport.
- Chris holds more international triathlon titles than any other competitor in history.
Jana Rawlinson (nee Pitman) (Matthew Pearce PS)
- Born 9 November1982
- 200m and 400m Hurdle Specialist
- 2000 World Junior Championships Gold Medal in the 400m Flat Race and 400m Hurdles
- 2002 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal 400m Hurdles and 4x400m
- 2003 World Championships Gold Medal 400m Hurdles
- 2006 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal 400m Hurdles and 4x400m
- 2007 World Championships Gold Medal 400m Hurdles
On 28 November at the SCG at a gala evening the winner will be announced. On the same evening three other sporting awards will be announced. They will be team of the year, coach and young performer of the year.
