Dani Samuels (Westfield Sports HS) a former student and recipient of a NSWCHS Blue in 2005 has thrown her first Olympic “A” qualifying performance in discus at the recent NSW Open Athletics Championships.

The distance of 61.38 metres is a NSW Open record and a personal best for the current World Junior Champion.  Ironically if she makes the Olympic team, Dani will be throwing in Beijing where she won the 2006 World Title.  In order to secure a spot in the team Dani will need to throw a second “A” qualifier and win the Australian Open in Brisbane at the end of the month.  This she is favoured to do.
