Sydney East Region has started the year by winning three NSWCHS Inter Regional Championships in a row. Talented Sydney East students played their part in these victories. Marc Koenig (Kingsgrove Nth HS) was the coach of the winning cricket team. The team travelled to the North West Region to play in Armidale from February 25 to 28 and came home with the trophy. This resulted in three students being selected in the NSWCHS firsts. Sean McInness (Endeavour Sports HS) A great deal of credit was given to the role of Sean McInness in this team. Sean was named Player of the Carnival and scored the most runs – 237 runs @ 118.5. Terry Williams (Cronulla HS) the coach/convener travelled with the Sydney East team to the Hunter Region to contest the Girls Softball Championships February 26 to 28. Some of the students who played a large part in the Sydney East victory and were selected in the NSWCHS Blue team are: Hannah Dean (Caringbah HS) Peter Barrington (Martin PS) the coach/convener of the Boys Baseball led Sydney East to a win out in Sydney West at Rooty Hill. The format of the competition was a round robin and Sydney East came out on top. This championship ran from March 10 to13. This was the first victory Sydney East had achieved in Baseball since 1981.
