047. History in The Making

2 May

The long awaited Centenary Test will be played on Friday 9 May 2008. It is one hundred years to the day since Australia first played Rugby League against New Zealand on 9 May 1908.  Since then the competition between these two countries has grown into one of a fierce rivalry with players vying for the honour of playing for their country.

The Centenary Test will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground and such is the interest in the game that tickets have become very difficult to obtain. In this match the players will be wearing heritage replica jerseys.

The honour and acknowledgement of being selected in this test will be one that all players will undoubtedly remember as one of the highlights of their playing careers.

Congratulations and good wishes are extended to the following four players:

Greg Bird (Rutherford HS)
Mark Gasnier (Peakhurst HS)
Greg Inglis (Hunter Sport HS)
Israel Folau (Westfields Sports HS)
