053. 2008 World Junior Rowing Championships in Austria

23 May

There will be three NSWCHS student rowing together in the one boat in the World Junior Championships to be held in Linz, Austria from 22 to 27 July.

This regatta, the biggest one for juniors in the world, has on average over fifty countries competing.  It is at this regatta that future senior and Olympic stars are frequently launched.  It is most often the first taste of international competition for young rowers.

This year the World Senior Rowing Championships will be included with the World Junior Championships.  With it being an Olympic year only non-Olympic events will be included in the Senior Championships.

It is a huge accolade for the following past and present students on their selection in the Womens Coxless Four for these Championships.

Ashleigh Peppernell (South Grafton HS)
Rachel See (Maclean HS)
Beatrix Sheldrick (Sydney Girls HS)

Ashleigh Peppernell was a recipient of a NSWCHS Blue for rowing in 2007.

We wish them every success.
