Two sons of former Wallabies were spotted at the NSWCHS Rugby Championships held at Sylvania from 3-5 June 2008. Sam Clements (Hurlstone Agricultural HS) was an integral member of the Sydney South West Team. Sam’s father Phil was a Wallaby and captained the Wallabies in a match. Sam also has two brothers, Josh and Adrian, who are no slouches at the game. Josh, a NSWCHS Blues recipient in 2001, is now playing with Glasgow Hawks. Josh also won the Sydney Morning Herald 2001 School Player of the Year. Adrian plays with the Tuggerong Vikings. Both Adrian and Josh are former students of Hurlstone Agricultural High School. Ben James (Pennant Hills HS) played for the Kuring-Gai Zone. Stephen James, Ben’s father, played in the first NSWCHS Inter Regional Rugby Carnival in 1978. Stephen James a former Drummoyne Boys High School student was rewarded with a NSWCHS Blue for Rugby in 1978. Stephen went on to play numerous tests for the Wallabies. Ben James plays for Eastwood and has been a regional and NSWCHS representative for three years. His ambition is to also represent the country in Rugby. At the players dinner held at the Cronulla Leagues Club on Wednesday night, an upcoming player with South Coast Region - AJ Hatch from Ulladulla High School was spotted. AJ is the son of long time Cronulla Sutherland Sharks stalwart David Hatch. David captained the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks for approximately fourteen years and played for Australia. Also attending the player dinner, as coach of Sydney East Region was Tim Rapp (Matraville HS). Tim went to Singleton High School and played in the 1995 and 96 NSWCHS Rugby Championships. Tim represented NSWCHS, NSW All Schools and Australian Schools in Rugby. Tim was a recipient of a NSWCHS Blue in 1996. The player of the carnival and the winner of the Ian McPherson Medal was Ryan Isberg (Pennant Hills HS).
