060. Rugby League “Alive and Well” in a Small North West School

23 June

By city standards Ashford Central is a small school.  It is a K-12 school with 164 pupils.  Numerous high schools in the city areas have more pupils than this in one senior year.

This year three boys - Morgan Boney, Steven Akhurst and Mark Lewis who represented North West Region at the NSWCHS Carnival are also playing in the district first grade competition for Inverell 1sts.

Another accomplishment of note for Ashford Central School, taking into account its relatively small enrolment, is the fact that seven boys also play in the Inverell U18 1sts.

Along with the three students who also play Open 1sts, Ashford's representatives are Daniel Lee, Hayden McDonald, Cory Baker and Chris Lewis.

Congratulations to the students from Ashford Central School with a senior school population of less that 80 this is a wonderful achievement due partly to the dedication of the staff and students.
