| The NSW All Schools Football Championships were played last week at the NSW Football Headquarters at Valentine Park at Glenwood. Competing teams from CHS, CIS and CCC battled for both the championship title and also selection in the NSW All Schools team to represent at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Perth from 2nd – 7th August.
In the boys’ competition the expected showdown between heavyweights CHS1 and CCC came in the final game of the tournament, with both teams winning each of their first two games against CHS2 and CIS. But the battle took on a lop-sided look from early on as CCC completely overran their fancied opponents from CHS, who were undermanned through injury and unavailability, and completed a 5-0 drubbing to take the title.
In the girls’ competition the traditional dominance of CHS1 was once again to the fore, and despite the closeness of some game scores they were never really troubled as they marched to the title with 3 victories from their 3 games. CIS were the big improvers, finishing second after an emphatic victory over CCC in their final game.
