Former Endeavour Sports HS Student Sets World Record |

Kaarle McCulloch was a student at Endeavour Sports HS three years ago; she has been cycling for four years. Kaarle’s first introduction to cycling was when she competed with the Endeavour Sports HS in their Triathlon team. Endeavour Sports HS won the NSWCHS and the All Schools Triathlon. At the recent Cycling World Championships held from 29-30 March in Pruszkow, near Warsaw, Kaarle McCulloch became World Champion in the Team Sprint. This event consists of two riders and is conducted over 2 laps of 500m. One rider starts in the gate and the other rider is next to the gate. Anna Meares started in the gate and in the first lap rode in front with Kaarle riding behind. The first rider then peels off and the second rider sprints to the finish line. Kaarle McCulloch and Anna Meares defeated the British pair of Victoria Pendleton and Shanaize Reed. This team has won the World Tile for the last three years. In defeating the British team Kaarle and Anna set a new world record of 33.114 seconds. Kaarle McCulloch also finished in the top 10 in three other events. Time Final 6th Kaarle will now return to training in the strengthening phase. In her studies Kaarle is changing to university in South Australia to be where the Australian Institute of Sport cycling squad is based. Kaarle will change her course to Applied Science in Sports Science with a dip.Ed component. Kaarle is now a gold level class athlete and is pursuing avenues of sponsorship Kaarle has been invited by the media to speak on radio and may be on the Big Sports Breakfast show making guest appearances. In July and August, Kaarle will travel with the Australian cycling team, the Cyclones, to the Czech Republic and Germany for training and racing.
