The NSWCHS Netball Championships were conducted at the indoor Menai Sports Centre which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because of the non-stop wet weather Sydney experienced during the course of the three days of play. The standard of play of the students from all round the state of NSW was exceptional. Among the many talented players were the following three young stars. Paige Hadley (St Marys Senior HS) who plays Centre and Wing defence has represented her region Sydney West for two years. Paige, 16yrs, plays in the Penrith Association State League 4s and is a NSW 17yrs and under State Representative. At the Nationals in Canberra in April Paige was selected in the Australian squad. At the NSWCHS championships Paige was selected in the NSWCHS Netball team. Amy Sommerville (Westfield Sports HS) plays Goal Shooter and Goal Attack. This is also Amy’s second year representing her region Sydney South West. Amy plays in Eastwood Ryde State League 3s. Amy, 16rys, is in her first year at the NSW Institute of Sport. Amy has also been selected in the NSWCHS Netball team. Amy has also competed in the Sydney South West Water polo team for the last two years.
