New South Wales Dominate at the Water Polo |

On the 17 -22 May 2009 the Australian U/18s Water Polo Championships were held in Canberra. New South Wales dominate proceedings winning both boys and girls finals convincingly. It was a tough tournament throughout the six days of competition with the standout teams being Victoria and New South Wales in the boys and New South Wales and Queensland in the girls. In the boys third place playoff Queensland battled the ACT with the Queensland thumping the ACT 16 to 2 in a very one sided playoff. In the girl’s third place playoff were Victorian girls battling the ACT girls. In another one sided playoff for third, the Victorian girls destroyed the ACT girls 16 to 2. In the final New South Wales played in both of them and coming out on top in both with some very good wins. In the boys final NSW defeated the Victorians 13 to 6. In the girls finals the New South Wales girls smashed the Queensland girls 12 to 3 in a very one sided affair. New South Wales proving to be the dominate State in the U/18’s Water Polo this year. The Australian sides were picked from these Championships to play in New Zealand from 14 -21 December 2009.
