Former Albion Park Public and High School student, Casey Eastham, was a member of the Australian women’s hockey team, The Hockeyroos, who recently defeated the New Zealand women’s national hockey team, the Black Sticks, in the final of the second Four Nations test in Auckland.

The Hockeyroos, who went down to the Black Sticks in the first final, secured a decisive win over their New Zealand opponents in the second game, with a final score of 3-1.

Younger girls with the aspirations to follow in Casey’s footsteps will have the opportunity to make their tentative steps into the realms of competitive hockey when Moorebank Hockey Fields hosts the New South Wales Combined High Schools’ Girls’ Hockey Championships from 8-10 May.

Casey will feature prominently in The Hockeyroos side during the London Olympics, which will see them compete at the Hockey Centre in London from Day 2 (29 July) to Day 11 (11 August) of the Olympic program. The team will be looking to capitalise on their recent victory in New Zealand and claim an Olympic Gold.
