Section 6: APPROVED SPORTS - ACTIVITIES AND SPECIFIC RULES

GOLF
  
6.9.1  OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - BOYS / GIRLS
  (a) CLOSING DATE
    2nd Week in April.
  (b) RULES
    (i)

The event will be:

36 Holes Stroke Championship (no benefit of Handicap
36 Holes Net and other encouragement awards.

    NOTE: In the 36 Holes Stroke Championship, additional holes will be played to decide positions, between those tied on the leading score after 36 holes. Runners-up to be decided on count back as per AGU count back system.
    (ii) Open to any boy on an AGU handicap of 8 or less. The field will be restricted by ballot on handicap for boys so that the total field for boys and girls does not exceed 100. Two tees to be used each day from 8:00 am r boys so that the total field for boys and girls does not exceed 100. Two tees to be used each day from 8:00 am - 10:00 am.
    (iii) Girls to be accepted on any handicap up to 36 unless numbers entered require a restriction.
    (iv) Players are responsible for their fares, green fees set by the Golf Club to be used, and meals.
    (v) Where possible, accommodation by billets will be arranged for entrants supplying full particulars of arrival and departure on the application form before the closing date.
    (vi) Correct address and behaviour is essential on the course and in the precincts of the Club House. Specifically this means if shorts are worn, long socks are required and they must be worn pulled up at all times. Unless designed for outer wear, shirts must be kept tucked in. (This applies to boys only
    (vii) Players must report to the starter immediately upon arrival and be fully prepared to play at least ten minutes prior to the starting time shown on the draw.
    (viii) Practice on the course proper is not permitted during any day of the Championship.
    (ix) All directions by Club and Combined High Schools officials must be followed.
    (x) Draw and information sheets are to be mailed to entrants 2 weeks prior to the date of the Championship.
    (xi) No advise or caddies will be allowed.
    (xii) Disputes committee to be comprised of:
  • Combined High Schools Convener
  • Carnival Manager
  • Other appointed person - preferably an Area Convener.
    (xiii) Total fees for the two days to be indicated on the nomination form. This amount will include green fees, competition fees (trophies), Ball competitions and nearest the pins and any other necessary fee. This amount is to be paid to the starter prior to hit-off on the first day.
6.9.2 MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - BOYS / GIRLS
  (a) CLOSING DATE FOR AREA WINNERS
    Area match play winners to be notified to CHS Golf Convener two weeks prior to the commencement of the Open Championships.
  (b) RULES
    (i) Open to all school golfers holding an AGU handicap of 24 or less at entry from affiliated schools.
    (ii) Area draws will be made by your Area Golf Convener. It will be made on the basis of local area schools first or wherever possible by drawing contestants together for a series of games (where possible at neutral centres) in order to minimise school time lost, travel and cost to students (if any).
    (iii) All matches are to be played over 18 holes Match play no benefit of handicap.
      Should a match be square at the 18th hole 'sudden death' will be used to determine the winner.
    (iv) To proceed in this Annual Match Play Championship, the Area Match Play Championship must have been determined and notified to the New South Wales Combined High Schools Golf Convener by the closing date. Quarter, Semi Finals and Finals are to be played in conjunction with (ie at a time and day organised by the Area and CHS Convener) the Open Championships.
    (v) The quarter finals of the Match Play shall be drawn on a seeded basis, based on handicaps.
    (vi) Players more than twenty minutes late for drawn times shall forfeit their matches. The decision of match referees appointed by the Area Golf Convener (for Area matches) and New South Wales Combined High Schools Golf Convener (for later matches) shall be final.
    (vii) No advice or caddies will be allowed.
    (viii)

Disputes committee to be comprised of:

  • Combined High Schools Convener
  • Carnival Manager
  • Other appointed person - preferably an Area Convener.
6.9.3 GOLF STATE CARNIVALRULES: BOYS / GIRLS
  Refer 'State Carnival' - Section 5.3
  (a) RULES
    (i) Open to all Areas to enter a team of four boys and / or four girls of any handicap.
    (ii) The events will be:
36 Holes stroke (Team Event) over two (2) days - 18 holes each day.
Best three scores of each Area team to count each day.
      Trophies for:
      Championship Area Boys and Girls
      Best Stroke Score - 36 holes Boys and Girls
      Best Nett Score - 36 holes Boys and Girls
    (iii) Final Day - 18 holes stroke play with a seeded draw.
    (iv) The host Area may enter two teams of boys and / or girls if numbers in that Area permit.
    (v) The NSWCHSSA Convener is empowered to select players not in teams for the NSWCHSSA State Championships and All Schools Selection Trials for selection purposes only.
    (vi) The draw at 7 minute intervals to be organized by the CHS Golf Convener so that where possible 1 boy and 1 girl from two areas constitute a group of four. Separate draws for each of the two days. Two tees to be used for the start of play each day.
    (vii) Each Area to pay an entry fee to cover the operating costs of the Championships including the ball competitions and other encouragement awards.
    (viii) Correct dress and behaviour is essential on the course and in the precincts of the Club House. Short socks are not permitted with shorts.
    (ix) Practice on the course proper is not permitted during any day of the Championship.
    (x) All reasonable directions by Host Club and CHS officials must be adhered to.
    (xi) No advice or caddies will be permitted.
    (xii) Disputes committee to be comprised of:
  • Combined High Schools Convener
  • Carnival Manager
  • Other appointed person - preferably an Area Convener.
  •     (xiii) All teams to be attired in Area Golf Uniform for Official Presentation. Players to sit together as an Area.
    6.9.4 TEAM SELECTIONS
      (a) Selection panel for boys and selection panel for girls to consist of the NSWCHSSA Golf Convener and three other selectors (Area Golf Conveners) elected at the Golf Sub - Committee Annual General Meeting.
      (b) Each Convener can nominate any number of boys OR girls, suitable for selection after first checking attitude, conduct and worthiness as being suitable to represent NSW All Schools.
      (c) Annual selection events:
        (i) All Schools Match Play Championship.
        (ii) NSW CHSSA Strokeplay Championships (NSW All Schools Strokeplay Championship held in conjunction).
        (iii) NSWCHSSA State Carnival and All Schools Selection Trials.
        to be used as the criteria for selection.
      (d) While no winner of any event can be regarded as being an automatic selection, the selectors should look closely at:
        (i) The All Schools Matchplay Championships.
        (ii) NSW CHSSA Strokeplay Championships (NSW All Schools Strokeplay Championship held in conjunction).
        (iii) The State Carnival and All Schools Selection Trials.
      (e) To be finally selected in a New South Wales All Schools Team the player must have entered the New South Wales Combined High Schools Strokeplay Championships (NSW All Schools Strokeplay Championship held in conjunction) OR the State Carnival and All Schools Selection Trials.
      (f) Records of junior tournaments conducted by the New South Wales Golf Association or Womens Golf NSW are only to be considered if selectors need to deliberate on boys or girls seen to be of equal ability.
