Section 6: APPROVED SPORTS - ACTIVITIES AND SPECIFIC RULES

6.22.1 KNOCKOUT COMPETITION
Refer 'Knockout Competitions' - Section 5.2.
  (a) DRAW
A master draw will be made at the beginning of the competition.
  (b) CONDITIONS OF PLAY
    (i)

The home team shall supply:

  • THE TABLE
    9' (274 cm) by 5' (152.5 cm) as recommended by the Australian Tennis Association.
  • THE NET
    6' in length, with the upper part along its whole length shall be 6" (15.25 cm) above the playing surface of the table.
  • BALLS, NATARKU/BARNA
    Three Star - or those acceptable to both coaches.
  • THE PLAYING SPACE
    Should be adequate, ie. at least 12 metres (39') long by 6 metres (12') wide.
  • THE FACILITIES
    Should be acceptable by the away team. If there is a dispute, the away team may offer an alternative venue.
  • A COMPETENT UMPIRE
    Who should not be the coach of either team, unless by mutual consent.
    (ii) The team shall consist of four players and a reserve.
    (iii) The match shall consist of seven matches - four singles and three doubles.
    (iv)
The order of play, shall be as follows:
  • Singles:
    No. 1 v No. 1,
    No. 2 v No. 2,
    No. 3 v No. 3,
    No. 4 v No. 4.
  • Doubles:
    No. 1 + No. 3 v No. 1 + No. 3,
    No. 2 + No. 4 v No. 2 + No. 4,
    No. 1 + No. 2 v No. 1 + No. 2.
    (v)
The sequence of matches shall be as per the score sheet supplied by the Combined High Schools.
That as soon as a result is achieved by either team, a coach may seek permission of the other coach to play reserve players.
    (vi) Any change from the above format without prior permission of the Convener results in a forfeit by that school.
    (vii) Each match shall consist of the best of five games.
    (viii)

Each game shall be won by the player who first wins eleven points - unless both players have scored fourteen points.

The player who reaches two points ahead shall be the winner

    (ix) That regulation uniform, school uniform, is worn by all players for all matches.
  (c) RESULTS
    (i) Refer 'Results' - Section 5.2.
    (ii) The score sheet shall be forwarded direct to the Convener by the winning team after being signed by both Managers/esses within three days to confirm the result. Failure to do so could result in a forfeit.
    (iii) The score sheet shall be supplied by Combined High Schools along with the draw.
  (d) DISPUTES
Any disputes are to be in writing and submitted to the Convener within three days.
