SECTION 5.7 -- GOLF STATE CARNIVAL RULES - Boys and Girls

 
(Amended 2006)

5.7.1

Refer to General State Carnival Rules.
  5.7.2 ELIGIBILITY
  (a) Must be nine (9) to thirteen (13) years old.
  (b) Must be able to have or be able to get written evidence of a handicap from one of the following:   
  A registered golf club.
Girls Golf School.
Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation.
Shark Challenge.
  (c) Students may have a handicap higher than forty five (45) but this will be the maximum given on the day.
  5.7.3 FIELD OF COMPETITORS
Not to exceed sixty four (64) (or as determined by the Convener).
    (a) Boys: restricted by ballot on handicap if required.
    (b) Girls: restricted by ballot on handicap if required.
  5.7.4 ENTRY FORMS
Each competitor must complete an entry form and handicap form and return by the closing date.
  5.7.5 CLOSING DATE
To be determined by the Convener.
(Notifications of acceptance/non acceptance will be sent within ten (10) days of the closing date).
  5.7.6 INFORMATION PACKAGE
These will be sent to each competitor at least two (2) weeks prior to the competition day.
  5.7.7 CADDIES/ADVICE
A no caddy/advice rule applies. A walker is assigned to each group to assist with rules and organisation.
  5.7.8 EVENTS/PRIZES:
  (a) Girls - 18 hole stroke / winner and runner up.
  (b) Girls - 18 hole nett / winner and runner up.
  (c) Boys - 18 hole stroke / winner and runner up.
  (d) Boys - 18 hole nett / winner and runner up.
  Note 1: A player may win prizes in either the scratch or nett event - not both. Scratch will take precedent over nett.
Note 2: All prizes to be decided on count back as per AGU count back system.
NSWPSSA Gold and Silver Medals to be presented to winners and runners-up.
  5.7.9 START / ARRIVAL
A shot gun start will be used. Players must be in attendance at least fifteen (15) minutes before tee off time or they may forfeit their place in the field.
  5.7.10 DRESS / BEHAVIOUR
Correct golfing attire and behaviour is essential on the course and in the precincts of the club.
  5.7.11 DISPUTES COMMITTEE To comprise:
  NSWPSSA Convener.
Carnival Manager/Tournament Director who must be a school based person.
Women's Golf and/or Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation.
  5.7.12 ENTRY FEES
Entry Fees and all other costs to be paid before tee off.
  5.7.13 CONDITION OF PLAY
AGU and LPGA condition of play apply unless stated otherwise.
  5.7.14 WET WEATHER/SUSPENSION OF PLAY
If in the event
of inclement weather and/or lightening it will be the responsibility of the host golf club in conjunction with the organising committee to suspend or cancel play. If, because of recent weather, a competitor is unsure if play will commence he/she will contact the golf course. A decision on the commencement of play will be made no later than 7.30am. Inthe event of a suspension of play, play will onlybe restarted if it is adjudged by the organising committee that all competitors will have completed their rounds by 3.00pm.
    5.7.14.1 Cancelled/Suspended Play and State Team Selection
In the event that a state championship is cancelled by weather the following state team selection policy will apply:
     
  • The team will comprise the 8 boys and 4 girls who have the lowest verified AGU/WGA handicaps as of the date of the championship.
  • The verification of handicaps will not take into account rounds of golf that have been played but have not yet been accredited by the handicapper of the competitor's home club.
  • This information will be included in the competitor's information package sent to all students who have been successful in gaining a place in the championship.
      In the event of suspended play the following state team selection will apply:
     
  • If the field has completed more than 12 holes in competition the leading 8 boys and 4 girls will be selected by the best 9 hole aggregate.
  • If the field has completed less than 12 holes the selection procedure will be the same as for cancellation of the event.
  • This information will be included in the competitor's information package sent to all students who have been successful ingaining a place in the championship.
