SECTION 5.17.5 - KNOCKOUT COMPETITION

5.17.5

If the number of teams does not equal 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 etc., then byes must be included in the draw so that the number of teams and byes are brought up to 4, 8, 16, 32 etc., - all byes must be drawn in the first round. Six (6) teams would mean 2 byes to bring the number up to 8.

This style of competition can be extended so that winners from round 1 continue to the right and the losers of round 1 continue to the left. The winners of round 2 continue to round 3 until finally there is a winner on the right and a winner on the left. These two (2) play off for a final winner.
