5.6.1
|
The Carnival is to be held in Term Three (3) each year.
|
|
|
5.6.2
|
(a)
|
Each Region / Association may enter a maximum of six (6) competitors per event. A Region / Association team event will be conducted in each age division from the best of the four (4) runners.
|
|
|
|
(b)
|
Events for Students with a Disability (SWD) are conducted at the Primary Cross Country Carnival. Each Region / Association may enter two (2) students with a disability in the following events: Boys 8/9 Years, Girls 8/9 Years, Boys 10 Years, Girls 10 Years, Boys 11 Years, Girls 11 Years, Boys 12/13 Years, Girls 12/13 Years.

Entry Criteria - Students with a Disability.
To be eligible to compete a SWD must meet the following criteria.
|

|
|
|

Each Region will be eligible to enter two (2) competitors per event, per gender to compete at the State Carnival.

All SWD's at the primary level will be running with their peers over the same distance. ie 8/9 and 10 years - 2 km, 11, 12 and 13 years - 3 km.

Each SWD must compete in Regional Uniform.

The qualifying time for SWD's is Primary Boys and Girls 8/9, 10 years, 11 years, 12 and 13 years to be listed in Rule 5.6.10.

Each SWD must complete the formal classification documentation for their disability category (prior to the State Carnival) and forward to the Regional Sports Officer prior to the State Carnival.

Placings for Primary events will be determined using the multidisability formula ie, comparing the athletes time to the 5000m time for their classification and determining the percentage. All percentages for all disability classes will be calculated and the highest percentage wins, second highest second etc.

NOTE: Eligible students must choose prior to competing whether they will compete as an SWD or as an abled bodies athlete. If competing as an SWD they must complete the classification documentation.

5.6.4

JUDGING/RECORDING
|
|
|
(a)
|
Judges give a place card to each competitor as they finish.
|
|
|
(b)
|
Competitors line up in finishing order and proceed to the recorders.
|
|
|
(c)
|
Recorder one (1) records the place of each competitor (in his/her Region / Association column on "the pointscore sheet"). The best four (4) places for each region are totalled to arrive at the team pointscore (and hence place) for each age division.
Age division pointscores are totalled to determine overall pointscores and carnival placings.

|
(d)
|
Recorder two (2) records the name and Region / Association of the 1st seven (7) placegetters on "the major placings sheet".
|
|
|
(e)
|
Competitors retain their own place card as a record of their finishing position. Team managers will be given participation certificates to hand on to team members.
|
|
|
(f)
|
The first seven (7) placegetters in the 10, 11, and 12 divisions will be retained by the "two (2) outfitters" to be measured for state team apparel.
|
|
|
Note:
|
(i)
|
The first five (5) placegetters qualify as state team members. The sixth and seventh (6 - 7) are reserves and are measured in case of withdrawals.
|
|
|
|
|
(ii)
|
There is no 8/9 year division at the interstate level. Children are not permitted to compete out of their age group.
|
|
|
5.6.5
|
SCORING
|
|
|
(a)
|
Points are scored against each team for positions finished.
Note: The best (lowest) four (4) places only are counted towards the team point score.
|
|
|
(b)
|
The Region / Association with the lowest aggregate in each division will be Champion Region / Association in that Division.
|
|
|
(c)
|
The Region / Association with the lowest aggregate over all divisions will be the Overall Champion Region / Association.
|
|
|
(d)
|
Competitors who fail to finish receive last place plus one (1).
|
|
|

|
PROGRAM
|
|
|
Program and Timetable to be at the Convener's discretion.

|
MEDALLIONS
Medallions are to be given as follows:

Individual Events: 1st, 2nd, 3rd
-
Team Events, 1st, 2nd, 3rd (to all six (6) team members)
Note: Where a tie occurs in a teams event placing, the team that has all their four (4) runners in first shall be used to decide the placings.

RULES
|
|
|
(a)
|
Footwear must be worn by all competitors. Spiked Footwear is not permitted due to safety reasons related to a pack start.
|
|
|
(b)
|
No pushing, tripping or interference with other competitors is allowed.
|
|
|
(c)
|
No competitor is to receive assistance or refreshments during the race.
|
|
|
(d)
|
All competitors must compete in Region / Association uniforms.
|
|
|
(e)
|
The Carnival Manager retains the right to alter the program if need be.
|
|
|
(f)
|
The NSWPSSA retains the right to include additional entries.
|
|
|
(g)
|
Protests must be made in writing by the Team Manager and handed to the Carnival Manager within ten (10) minutes of the completion of the relevant event.
|
|
|
(h)
|
Asthma medication is permitted to be taken during the course of the competitor's event.
|
|
|
Protests will be heard by the Protest Committee consisting of the Carnival Manager and two (2) others elected at the Pre-Carnival meeting of Managers and Officials.
|
|
|
5.6.9
|
THE START
The announcer shall call competitors to the marshals who shall line competitors across a single line.
Starting command shall be:
'On Your Marks' followed by a firing of the starter's gun.
A second firing shall indicate a recall.
|
|
|
