Knockout Report

Knockout Competition

Firstly, I need to thank all of the ARU development officers who have given up time in their busy schedules to accommodate regional gala days for the Bryan Palmer Shield. In all cases, I have heard just how wonderful they have all been when conducting the gala days, making sure no stone was left unturned in the organisation. They were all fantastic in reporting back to me as well, which of course, makes my job easier.
Without going into all results, here are the results of the matches for round 5 that are due to be played by Friday 3 August 2012, the semi finals and final play on Wednesday 29 August 2012.  Results of gala days can be accessed on the PSSA sports website.

Round 5 (Quarter Finals) – 20 minute halves (To be played by 3 August 2012)

8 Round 4 matches = 8 winners

Match Z – John Warby P.S. vs Plumpton P.S. (John Warby WOF)

Match Y – Edgeworth P.S. vs The Junction P.S. (The Junction won 24-24 – first try scorers)

Match X – Molong P.S. vs Albion Park P.S.  (Molong won 31-5)

Match W – Kingscliff P.S. vs Tamworth P.S.  (Tamworth won 38-7)

Semi Final (20 minute halves)& Final (22.5 minute halves).

4 winners = 4 teams for finals day on Wednesday 29 August 2012 at Forshaw Park, Sylvania, Sydney. (Confirmed)

Semi Final 1 (9.00am 20 minute halves with the opportunity for 5 mins extra time in case of a draw)

John Warby P.S.  vs   The Junction P.S. (Back Field) (The Junction won 43-15)

Semi Final 2 (9.50am 20 minute halves with the opportunity for 5 mins extra time in case of a draw))

Molong P.S.  vs   Tamworth P.S. (Back Field) (Tamworth won 45-12)

Play off for 3rd and 4th (11.05am 22.5 minute halves – Top Field)

(John Warby def. Molong 51-7)

Final (11.50am 22.5 minute halves – Main Field)

(Tamworth drew with The Junction 28 all)

The final was a cracking game of Rugby played from end to end, but the final result was certainly fitting with joint winners being declared, not only after a very close final, but also the last few years of a great rivalry where these two schools would meet in the round of 16 or round of 8 and eventually knock one or the other out of the competition with again, a very close score.
