Touch Knockout Competition Information 2009

1.

Rules And Conditions

1.1

Refer to general knockout rules, Section 6, NSWPSSA Handbook

1.2

Competition is to be an open primary age basis, ie.

 

(i)

Competitors must be thirteen (13) years or under in the year of competition.

 

(ii)

All matches will be played according to Standard ATA Rules unless otherwise stated.

 

 

"CLARIFICATION" In accordance with current Australian Touch Association Rules regarding footwear “Shoes with screw-in studs or cleats are not to be worn by any player.  Light leather or synthetic boots with soft moulded soles are permitted, provided individual studs are no longer than ten millimetres (10mm) in length; the measurement being taken from the sole of the boot.  "Australian Touch Association Playing Rules and Referees Signals 7th Edition"

Rules

 

(i)

All teams will consist of a maximum of fourteen (14) players, with a maximum of seven (7) players on the field.

 

(ii)

Each team is permitted to make unlimited substitutions ensuring equitable time for all players.

 

(iii)

Substitutions shall take place from one designated sideline.

Duration Of Play

 

(i)

Games shall be twenty (20) minutes each way with a five (5) minute half time.

Drawn Games

4.1

If at full time the scores are level the drop off rule shall apply.

Drop Off System

 

Captains will toss the coin again to determine possession of the ball and the direction to run.

Each team will start with six (6) players.

After every two minutes the play is to stop at the next touch made, penalty, dropped ball or break in play.

One player from each team is to then leave the field.  Upon these players leaving the field play is to resume from the point it was stopped. This same process continues every two minutes.  The minimum number of players on the field shall be three per side.

Substitutions may occur as per normal during this drop off period.

The winning team is the first try scorer.

Exception.  If at the beginning of the drop off rule the team who has first possession scores during their first set of touches, they must give the opposing team an opportunity to score in their first set of touches. If the opposing team scores in this set of touches, the game continues.  However, as soon as the opposing team lose possession of the ball the try scoring team is awarded the match.

4.1

(ii) 

In the final, if the game is drawn after five (5) minutes each way extra time, both teams shall be declared joint winners.
