ACT is thrilled to invite students from across Australia and the Pacific region to what promises to be a most exciting and unique Pacific School Games in Canberra in 2008.
The 8th Pacific School Games will be held from 30 November - 6 December, 2008 and are expected to attract 3000 primary and secondary student competitors, aged from 10 to 19. They will build on the tradition of past Pacific School Games, fostering friendship and understanding of other cultures through a rare sporting and educational spectacle.
The 2008 PSG program comprises five sports: athletics, basketball, diving, hockey and swimming.
Athletics and swimming are the only sports to have been on the program at each of the past seven Games. Diving has been featured at a number of previous Games and basketball returns after its impressive debut in 2005, while in 2008 hockey will make its debut.
Events for students with disabilities will again follow the multidisability format in swimming and athletics. Wheelchair basketball will again be part of the basketball program.
Information regarding the NSW team, team management and selection procedures will be available by utlitising the navigations on the right. All will be functional by mid November. The host site for general information about the 8th Pacific School Games is available at www.pacificschoolgames.edu.au
