All relevant information may be found on the website www.sports.det.nsw.edu.au/riverina/welcome.htm under the link Trials and Championship Information. 2011 Riverina Primary Regional Cross Country A reminder to all districts to forward their entries to the convener, Wayne Bradley (Edward PS), for the Riverina Cross Country to be held at Memorial Park (Deniliquin), Tuesday 14 June. The first 6 placegetters from this event will be selected to represent Riverina at the NSW PSSA championships at Eastern Creek on Friday 22 July. 2011 Riverina CHS Cross Country The Riverina CHS Cross Country will be held at The Pines Reserve, Bethanga Road, Albury on Friday 17th June. Entries for this event are school based. A reminder is given to all schools that each year at the NSW CHS/All Schools event a school relay event is held in each age group. Riverina’s entries to these events is based on results at the Riverina event where schools who enter four runners in an age group have their results compared and the best school is invited to compete. The walk of the course is at 10:15am with the events following on from that as per the program listed on the Riverina School Sports Association website. 2011 Primary and Secondary Orienteering NSW Orienteering is hosting an orienteering event on Thursday 26th May at Willians Hill, Wagga starting at 9:30 am. Any students interested in competing in this event additional information can be found on the Riverina School Sports Association website. Teacher Professional Learning Workshops ONE Day-AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate Candidates will be granted prior learning recognition for particular topics for the AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety course. Hours of theory presentation have been reduced to reflect the educational background of presenters and participants. Candidates will be assessed through a combination of theory and practical assessment.
This DET course is registered professional development under the terms of the NSW Institute of Teachers Continuing Professional Development policy. For teachers accredited at Professional Competence, completion of this course will contribute 8 hours towards Institute Registered professional development. Date: Thursday 9 June, Oasis Swim Centre- Morgan St, Wagga Wagga School Swimming Scheme- Escort Teachers Workshop
The NSW Department of Education and Training’s School Swimming Scheme, has developed this training course to provide teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to plan organise and participate in the School Swimming Scheme. As a water safety and learn to swim program the School Swimming Scheme caters for children who are unable to swim 25m confidently. The SSS Escort Teacher Workshops assist teachers from participating school who will be taking a group of children when their school attends the SSS. The skills and experiences gained from participation in this course provide teachers with the competencies required to participate in the SCHOOL SWIMMING SCHEME. Teachers wishing to gain an accreditation in the area of learn to swim should apply for the DET One Day ‘AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety’ course. This course is registered with the NSW Institute of Teachers. For those teachers accredited at Professional Competence, this workshop will contribute 5 hours towards Institute Registered Professional Development.
