COST:
A $2.00 Riverina levy is to be paid by all competitors. Zones are asked to pay the levy by cheque to the Sports Organiser, or Carnival Convener on the day of the carnival.

OFFICIALS:
Teachers are invited to apply for an official position at this carnival. Nominations should be on the application found on the website. Officials cannot be Team Managers.

APPAREL:
Some Riverina apparel will be on sale at the carnival - to be listed at a later date.

RELIEF:
Relief will be given for appointed carnival officals only. There is no Riverina relief for Team Managers.

STARTING TIME:
9.00 am Team Managers' meeting. All Zones should have a representative at this meeting.
It is imperative that the carnival start at 9.30 am sharp. Team Managers are requested to have their team at the ground by 9.00 am.
The Carnival will continue without a lunch stoppage. Lunch to be taken by individuals where appropriate.

DUE DATE:
All entries must be returned to Michelle Armstrong (email: MICHELLE.ARMSTRONG@education.nsw.gov.au) and Jason Wilesmith (email: Jason.Wilesmith@det.nsw.edu.au)or Marg Gillespie (email: margaret.gillespie@det.nsw.edu.au)  by Friday 22 August. (Early return of entry forms would be greatly appreciated). If you are experiencing problems adhering to this deadline please notify Jasonii or Marg.

ENTRIES:
Each zone is allowed a maximum 2 entries per track events and 1 entry per field events. The larger zones of Albury, Griffith, Wagga Wagga and Cootamundra may send 3 track and 2 field entries. Other zones, where a third competitor is of a high standare, may make application to the Regional Sports Organiser for inclusion of an additional competitor.

RELAYS:
2 teams per zone - (batons supplied). Application may be made by Zones for additional entries where the standard warrants.

PROGRAMS: $2.00 each

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  1. Team Managers are asked to ensure that all competitors move to the marshalling area when their event is call. PARENTS ARE NOT TO ENTER THE MARSHALLING AREA.
  2. Alexandra Park is an all weather track. Spikes are allowed - suitable footwear must be worn.
  3. All track events will be timed finals except for 100m.
  4. If a competitor arrives late they must expect that competitors will miss early events.
  5. Full canteen facilities will operate.
  6. Relays, 200m and 800m events will be run as seeded heats. There will be NO FINALS for these events.
  7. CARNIVAL FORMAT - similar to State Carnival

  8. Field events begin at 9.30 am

  9. All competitors in 100m, 200m and first relay runners must use a crouch start. Starting blocks are compulsory for 11, 12 and 13 year olds. Starting blocks are optional for 8, 9 and 10 year olds.
  10. The Nigel Bagley Trophy is a small schools relay open to schools with an enrolment of more than 25 students but not exceeding 54 students (as determined by the February Staff Return).
    The Earl McGee Trophy is a small schools relay open to schools with an enrolment of 24 or less (as determined by the February Staff Return).
  11. Shot Put weights: Junior: 2 kg, 11 years: 2 kg, Senior: 3 kg
    Discus weights: Junior: 500g, 11 years: 750g, Senior: 750g.

  13. There will be a limited amount of Riverina apparel for sale at the carnival from 10.00 am.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS RELATING TO TRACK & FIELD FACILITIES

  1. Spikes used on the track and run-ups must not exceed 12mm in length and be needle type.
    Athletes must exercise care at all times when wearing spikes
  2. Specators must not enter the track or infield.
