Please advise the convener if you cannot attend this carnival well in advance as draws have had to be changed in the past and it is very disruptive.
CARNIVAL ORGANISATION:
- Riverina Tryouts will be held on Court 1 and will be in the form of train ing drills, skill sessions, scrimmages or games. All students wishing to make the Riverina team will need to participate in these sessions, but will be allowed to leave to compete in their respective State Knockout games
- Teams will have the opportunity to play their first round games of the State Knockout. Court 2 will be available from 9.00 am until 3.00 pm. Depending on the demand of schools wishing to travel to Trials, the option of playing a second game may also be available.
- A Court 1 will be available for State Knockout games (if needed) during breaks in the Riverina Tryouts. All players should have correctly numbered uniforms or appropriate attire.
- Teams should supply their own ball and water bottle..
- Teams are required to provide a badged referee. Please inform the Convener prior to the carnival on the nomination form. A student referee will be selected to represent Riverina at the Inter-Area Championships.
RIVERINA SELECTION:
All coaches are to provide the convener with a short list of players (with numbers) they consider are candidates for Riverina selection. Inter-Area carnival will be held term 1 week 8, 19-22 March in Sutherland (Sydney).
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Good basic Basketball skill particularly footwork
- Solid defensive skills
- Good offensive skills
- The ability to read the game.
- The ability to work as part of a team
