Introduction/Index

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Cassilis Public School is a small isolated disadvantaged (PSFP) rural school providing a family atmosphere for children from diverse backgrounds.  Parents/community have high involvement and participation in school activities and governance.  A specific example is the award-winning “Sports Workshop”.

Emphasis is placed on basic skills.  Welfare and care of children and providing opportunities to overcome geographic isolation are also priorities.  All Cassilis children are encouraged to participate and show sportsmanship in all sports/physical education activities.  Sport and Physical Education activities are run as whole-school (K-6) activities.

Children are taught in two multi-age classes.  These consist of children in the lower division:  Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2; and upper division: Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

The Principal has been the “sports person” at previous schools including sports, cross country, netball convenor in the Upper Blue Mountains.  Other staff often have limited to no sports background or expertise.
