SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Toongabbie Public School
has been serving its local community since 1886.  Strong community support is a recognised feature of the school.  Diverse cultural and social student backgrounds assist in providing caring and tolerant attitudes and values.

Enrolments have remained steady over the past three years and currently stand at 614, being 294 boys and 320 girls.  This year, there has been a slight increase to 26% in the number of students from non English speaking backgrounds (NESB).  A wide variety of cultural backgrounds is represented with no one group predominating.

The school enjoys a high sporting profile as evidenced by:
§high level of participation in the Public Schools Sporting Association (PSSA) competitions including cricket, netball, soccer, softball, T-ball and touch football
§representatives in athletics, cross country and swimming at Sydney West carnivals
§focus on PD/H/PE through a series of visiting workshops in a number of sporting areas such as basketball, cricket and dance.

Staff average age 47.  Wide experience in all aspects of sports.

Visits by development officers in Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Soccer.
Hockey, Aussie Rules – these usually include coaching clinics (with teachers).
