General Comments:

The carnival was played in good spirit and produced an outstanding week of cricket.  Played on grounds across the townships of Coffs Harbour and Sawtell, the carnival was well received by the Local Council and cricket clubs.  The umpiring was of a high standard, with official umpires standing in all matches.  The umpires were extremely efficient in providing feedback for the Spirit of Cricket trophy. The organising committee did an outstanding job, and to play on turf wickets during the week after Coffs was flooded a week earlier was beyond our expectations.

The standard of play was excellent, and at the completion of day 3 there were three regions undefeated – all within one wicket on the quotient.  There were a number of outstanding performances from various players (as listed above), but two hat tricks occurred – an extremely rare event.  Luke Doran and Nick Maddison were selected in the NSW CHS representative teams despite not playing at the carnival.  Both were withdrawn from the carnival to represent NSW 2nd XI in the Cricket Australia Cup during the week.

Acknowledgements:

North Coast SSA and Jenny Warren – thank you for your hospitality and expertise throughout the week.  To carnival managers Peter Denham and Declan Horan (Belligen HS), who along with Cricket NSW Regional Director of Coaching Chris Moran did a great job organising and liaising with the Coffs cricket community. Umpires coordinator Ken Robinson was very efficient, while Northern NSW Cricket Development Officer Brett Rankin attended the carnival dinner and presented a small professional development activity to the regional managers. The Coffs Harbour City Council and Head curator Russell Fensom, and the Sawtell Cricket Association and curator Arthur Smart must be recognised for their assistance with wickets and grounds.  The Selection Panel of Ryan Bulger (Sydney North), Paul Johns (Hunter), and Terry Willis (Riverina) worked countless hours preparing statistics and team selections.
