General Comments:

The carnival was held on grounds in the Campbelltown district. The weather and rain caused all matches to be played on synthetic wickets. The umpiring was of a high standard, with official umpires standing in all matches.  The organising committee did an excellent job rescheduling matches and was well supported by the local council and St.Gregory’s College, Campbelltown.

The quality of play was excellent, with many outstanding performances being registered during the week.  The wet weather caused some matches to be shortened from the 50 over format, but commonsense was used to ensure competitive games were played. Congratulations to the North Coast team for winning the final against Sydney South West, while Sydney West took out a hotly contested Sally Curry Spirit of Cricket Trophy.

Acknowledgements:

Thank you to the Sydney South West SSA and Ross Higgins for the warm hospitality and organisation (and re-organisation) of the carnival.  To the carnival managers Jason Ellsmore and Jeremy Moors, there is much appreciation for all your work leading up to and during the event. The Umpire co-ordinator Ian Wright scheduled many umpires throughout the week. The Camden South Public School made the lunches for the girls and officials.

Special mention to the Campbelltown Camden CC and Campbelltown City Council for their assistance with grounds, while St.Gregory’s College, Campbelltown allowed their grounds to be used on all days due to the wet weather.

The Selection Panel of Craig May (Dubbo College South Campus), Sally Curry (Goulburn HS) and Vivienne Nichols (Grafton HS) organised selection meetings and game summations for the carnival.
