General Comment on Team Performance:
The NSW boy’s team played to the best of their ability in all games, combining well and playing good team hockey. They were unlucky to have a 2 all draw with Victoria, with Victoria’s second goal coming from a penalty corner after the full time siren. All the NSW boys displayed great sportsmanship throughout the championships and training camp and thoroughly deserved their overall second placing. The NSW team had a draw with Queensland after a hard-fought game and were the only team throughout the championships to not lose to Queensland. All boys showed pleasing improvement in their skills throughout the week and should be proud of what they achieved throughout the week in Newcastle!

Equipment and Uniforms:
Uniforms looked smart and the alternate strips ensured there were no clashes with other states. Perhaps the NSW PSSA logo (or something signifying NSW) could be embroidered into socks? There was a small problem with the sizing of some tracksuits, but this was dealt with as the need arose.

General Comments:
It was a pleasure to again be involved with the NSW PSSA Boy’s Hockey Team at the National Championships. The event was well organised, the weather was almost perfect every day and all NSW supporters were positive in their encouragement. The NSW boy’s team greatly appreciated the support of the NSW girl’s team during the championships and also enjoyed the opportunity to support NSW teams at the National Basketball Championships being held in Newcastle.

Training camp was again vital to the success of teams and the structure of PSSA hockey in NSW is obviously at a very high and professional level compared to some other states and this should be promoted at every available opportunity.
