SEPSSA REGIONAL ATHLETICS – RESCHEDULED
MONDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER 2009
The Carnival will now be held on MONDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER 2009 at SOPAC – Homebush. All previous advertised starting times and Program will remain. Due to booking constraints with SOPAC, the Regional Carnival will need to conclude by 3.00pm. Therefore, the starting time of 8.30am will be strictly adhered to. No correspondence will be entered into.
Please note the following Regional Selection Policy which will be adopted on the day in relation to the selection of the Regional team. This Policy has been endorsed by the Executive and the Convener.
SELECTION POLCY – SEPSSA REGIONAL ATHLETICS
MONDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER 2009:
The first 3 placegetters in each event at the Regional Carnival will automatically be selected to compete at the NSWPSSA State Athletics Carnival.
Students must compete at the Regional Carnival in order to allow them to be considered for selection in the Sydney East team to participate at the State Carnival. Exception may be given if athletes are unable to attend the Carnival due to commitments in an authorised school based activity, or other extenuating circumstances.
In these cases, a request for consideration for inclusion in the Regional team must be presented to the Convener, Sue Stephens (Annandale North PS fax: 9692-8323) in writing by 3.30pm Friday, 25 September. This request must be verified/endorsed by the student's Principal on school letterhead, listing the student's 2009 Zone/District performance and reason for the inability to attend on Monday, 28 September 2009. Only 2009 Zone/District results will be considered.
This will then be considered for selection by the Executive and Convener. The submitted time/distance from 2009 Zone/District Carnivals will then be compared to placegetters at the 2009 Sydney East PSSA Carnival on Monday, 28 September 2009. Hand held times from Zone/District Carnivals will be converted to equivalent photo finish times.
Inclusion in the Regional team under these circumstances will not be at the expense of individuals who have competed at, and qualified for the Regional team based on the qualification procedures determined by the NSWPSSA, and is also subject to approval from the relevant NSWPSSA Convener.
Submitting a consideration for inclusion does not guarantee inclusion in the Regional Team.
