Selection Policy: For athletes unable to compete at the Sydney East Regional Athletics Carnival, consideration to be selected into the team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Carnival may be made if:
1.1 Competing at another school based carnival or competition. Any athlete competing at another competition of equal or higher standing to the Sydney East competition may submit a result for consideration for inclusion. The athlete must be representing Sydney East Region, New South Wales or Australia at the time of the Sydney East Regional Athletics Carnival. The submitted result must be ratified by the School Principal of the school the student is attending as well as the Zone Convener. The submission must be in writing on the appropriate form as per 3.1 and must be given to the Regional Convener or Regional Sports Organiser no later than two weeks prior to the date set down for the Sydney East SSA Regional Athletics Carnival unless a delay in the Zone Carnival has made the date of the Zone Carnival within two weeks of the Sydney East Athletics Carnival. Submissions after that time will be considered as per 4.1.
2.1 Injury prior to the carnival or illness on the day or injury during competition If the athlete is unable to compete on the day due to illness or injury that athlete will only be considered as per General submission 4.1.
a) Any athlete unable to compete at the Sydney East Athletics Carnival due to an injury sustained prior to the carnival must make a written submission on the appropriate form as per 3.1 and must include a medical certificate detailing the nature of the injury and that the athlete will be fully fit to compete by the date of the NSWCHSSA Athletics Carnival. This submission must be made prior to the commencement of that event at the Sydney East Regional Athletics Carnival.
b) Any athlete unable to compete at the Sydney East Regional Athletics Carnival due to illness on the day of competition or injury during the competition preventing the athlete from fully competing can submit a request for consideration to be included in the team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Athletics Carnival by making a written submission on the appropriate form as per 3.1 and must include a medical certificate. The submission must be given to the Convener or Regional Sports Organiser no later than three days after the Sydney East Athletics Carnival.
3.1 The submitted distance, time or height must be from the Zone Carnival in the same year of competition and meet the qualifying standard set down for the NSWCHSSA Athletics Carnival if it is to be considered. This is referred to in the following as the submitted result. The submitted result must be in writing on the appropriate form and must include the result from the Zone Carnival in the same year of competition and must be ratified by the School Principal of the school that the student attends as well as the Zone Convener.
CONSIDERATION of ENTRY by SUBMISSION APPLICATION FORM will only be accepted on the downloaded form provided.
Please Note: A request for consideration of entry by submission does not necessarily result in a student being selected in the Regional team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Carnival.
4.1 General submission. The athlete will only be considered as a third competitor if the first two placegetters at the Sydney East Athletics Carnival have qualified for the NSWCHSSA Athletics Carnival based on the qualification standards determined by the NSWCHSSA. Inclusion in the Regional team under these circumstances will not be at the expense of individuals who have competed at the Regional Carnival, and qualified for the Regional team based on the qualification procedures determined by the NSWCHSSA.
5.1 The athlete making a submission will be notified in writing of the decision as to their inclusion in the Sydney East Athletics Team prior to the NSWCHSSA Athletics Carnival.
