Selection Policy: The Sydney East SSA wishes to advise that, with the exception of the 400m and 800m Freestyle events and the 400 IM, which will be selected on the basis of submitted times, individuals who are competing in the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles in Perth, and elect not to compete at the Sydney East SSA Swimming Championships on Monday, 23 March 2009 at SOPAC – Homebush WILL NOT be considered for inclusion in the Sydney East SSA Regional team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Championships.
For athletes unable to compete at the Sydney East Regional Swimming Carnival, consideration to be selected into the team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Carnival may be made if:
1.1 Competing at another school based carnival or competition Any athlete competing at another school based competition of equal or higher standing to the Sydney East competition may submit a result for consideration for inclusion. The athlete must be representing Sydney East Region, New South Wales or Australia at the time of the Sydney East Regional Swimming Carnival. The submitted result must be ratified by the School Principal of the school the student is attending as well as the Zone Convener. The submission must be in writing on the appropriate form as per 3.1 and must be given to the Regional Convener or Regional Sports Organiser no later than two weeks prior to the date set down for the Sydney East SSA Regional Swimming Carnival.
2.1 Injury prior to the carnival or illness on the day or injury during competition If the athlete is unable to compete on the day due to illness or injury that athlete will only be considered as per General submission 4.1.
a) Any athlete unable to compete at the Sydney East Swimming Carnival due to an injury sustained prior to the carnival must make a written submission on the appropriate form as per 3.1 and must include a medical certificate detailing the nature of the injury and that the athlete will be fully fit to compete by the date of the NSWCHSSA Swimming Carnival. This submission must be made prior to the commencement of that event at the Sydney East Regional Swimming Carnival.
b) Any athlete unable to compete at the Sydney East Regional Swimming Carnival due to illness on the day of competition or injury during the competition preventing the athlete from fully competing can submit a request for consideration to be included in the team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Swimming Carnival by making a written submission on the appropriate form as per 3.1 and must include a medical certificate. The submission must be given to the Convener or Regional Sports Organiser no later than three days after the Sydney East Swimming Carnival.
3.1 The submitted time must be from the Zone Carnival in the same year of competition and meet the qualifying standard set down for the NSWCHSSA Swimming Carnival if it is to be considered. This is referred to in the following as the submitted result. The submitted result must be in writing on the appropriate form and must include the result from the Zone Carnival in the same year of competition and must be ratified by the School Principal of the school that the student attends as well as the Zone Convener. Inclusion in the Regional team under these circumstances will not be at the expense of individuals who have competed at the Regional Carnival, and qualified for the Regional team based on the qualification procedures determined by the NSWCHSSA.
CONSIDERATION of ENTRY by SUBMISSION APPLICATION FORM will only be accepted on the downloaded form provided.
Please note: A request for consideration of entry by submission does not necessarily result in a student being selected in the Regional team to compete at the NSWCHSSA Carnival.
4.1 The athlete making a submission will be notified in writing of the decision as to their inclusion in the Sydney East Swimming Team prior to the NSWCHSSA Swimming Carnival.
Entry:
1) Entry will be through Zone Team only
2) Zones are permitted to enter two competitors per event
3) Relays must be all School Teams
4) A Swimmer may compete in only ONE 4x50m Freestyle Relay at their own or at a higher age group.
Zone Conveners will be required to supply the first and second names of competitors and their dates of birth on the Zone Team entry form.
Please Note: A third competitor may be nominated as long as their time is equal or better than the five fastest times from the final at the previous Regional Championships.
Knockout: The final of the SESSSA Swimming Knockout will be swum on Monday 23 March, 2009. Please refer to the SESSSA program for further details. The winning school will represent Sydney East SSSA at the CHS Finals at CHS Swimming.
Students with Disabilities: The NSWCHSSA encourages students with intellectual, physical and sensory disabilities to participate in the swimming program. Contact should be made with the Regional Sports Office to ascertain procedures for inclusion in such events prior to 13 March, 2009. Multi-disability events for Students with Disabilities wll be conducted in th 50m Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke.

Apparel: Sydney East Association apparel will be on sale at the Championship.
NSWCHSSA Championships: The Sydney East Team to compete at the NSWCHSSA State Championships will be selected and announced following the Regional Championships. They will be held on Sunday 5, Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 April, 2009 at Sydney Olypic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush.
The selection of the Regional Team will be advised.
Officials: Applications are called for officials. Casual relief is available for successful applicants. The Teacher Application Form must be completed and returned by Tuesday 17 March, 2009.
