Trial / Championship Information

Sport: Secondary Cross Country
Time: Gates open 9.00am to to expected finish 4.00 - 4.30pm approx.
Date: Thursday, 11 June 2009
Venue: GOSFORD Racecourse
Racecourse Road
Gosford
Entry: Zones who enter school teams may run up to ten runners including the school team members. Zones who do not enter school teams may run a maximum of six runners.
Cost: $3.00 per student and spectator

Program: The CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAM is presented here for you to download and print.

Walk of the Course: The walk of the course will take place at 9.45am. You should be at the venue prior to this time if you wish to walk the course.

Rules:  Zones may enter 6 competitors in each age group plus 4 school team members.
(a) Zone team placings will be determined by the lowest cumulative score from their first six (6) runners (including school runners). Where less than six (6) runners finish last place points plus one will be awarded for each non-finishing runner. Tie's will be split by the first team runners finishing positions.
(b) School team events will be conducted in each age group.
(c) School teams will comprise four (4) runners with three (3) to score.
(d) There will be one (1) school team per Zone per race.
(e) School team races, individual races and Zone team races will be held concurrently over the same distance.
(f) Individuals competing in school teams will also be representing their Zone and consequently counting towards Zone point scores.
(g) In the school team events at least three (3) runners must finish to be eligible for a placing.
(h) All protests must be lodged in writing to the Carnival Organiser from the Team Manager/ess within fifteen minutes of the conclusion of the event. 
(i) It is the responsibility of all competitors to run the correct course.
(j) Competitors interfering with other competitors will be disqualified.

Zone Entries:  Must be forwarded to the Sydney North Convener by Thursday 28 May 2009.

 

Special Entries:  Requests for special entries close with the convener on Friday 29 May 2009. Only exceptional circumstances will be considered. All requests for special entries must come through the relevant Zone Convener. Zone Conveners may download and print the current SECONDARY CROSS COUNTRY SPECIAL ENTRIES NOMINATION FORM.  

 

Special Notes:
1. Competitors who fail to complete the course should notify the judges on their return to the finish. 

2. Competitors are prohibited from using the course prior to the carnival. 

3. Competitors must wear zone singlets and appropriate footwear.

 

NOTICE TO ALL ZONE CONVENERS

Before finalising Zone Teams, Zone Conveners should allow space in their team of 10 runners for students who miss zone cross country through illness or injury.

Zone Team Notes: The management of the carnival and the venue advise that it is essential that the following information is placed on all permission notes in regard to the championships.

"1. The course and park surrounds are private property and are patrolled by security officers of the RACE COURSE.

2. The course is not open to the public.

3. It is not available for trial runs.

4. Parking is available in the racecourse carpark, adjacent to the track in Racecourse Road.

5. Garbage bins are provided for litter.

6. Only competitors and officials are permitted inside the course barriers."

 

Officials:  Applications are called for officials. The SECONDARY CROSS COUNTRY OFFICIALS Teacher Application Form must be completed and returned by Wednesday 27 May 2009. Zones are only required to staff zone teams.

 

AWD (Athletes With a Disability) Cross Country Participation. Elite AWD's can download and print AWD CROSS COUNTRY PARTICIPATION ENTRY FORM in order to participate at the NSWPSSA Cross Country Championships to be held at Eastern Creek Raceway on Friday 31 July 2009. Nomination Forms must be completed and returned by Wednesday 27 May 2009.

 

State Carnival: The NSWPSSA and NSWCHSSA Cross Country State Carnival will be held on Friday 31 July 2009 at Eastern Creek Raceway, Eastern Creek.
